Sahara Desert hiking trip Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Acclimatization in Marrakech
Arrive in Marrakech and take the day to acclimatize. Explore the vibrant Medina. Visit historic sites like the Koutoubia Mosque and Saadian Tombs. Stroll through the souks and gardens. This evening, enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal. Get a good night’s rest to prepare for your journey into the desert.
Day 2: Journey to M’hamid desert
Start your day with an early departure from Marrakech. Travel to M’hamid, a small town that serves as a gateway to the desert. The drive will take you through varied landscapes, including the Atlas Mountains and arid plains. Upon arrival in M’hamid, meet your camel caravan and begin your trek into the desert. Camp near M’hamid or in a nearby dune area for your first night under the stars.
Day 3: M’hamid Sahara to Sidi Naji
From M’hamid, embark on a camel trek to Sidi Naji. This area is known for its beautiful, expansive dunes and unique desert scenery. Enjoy a day of hiking through the dunes and setting up camp at Sidi Naji. Here, you can relax and soak in the peaceful desert environment. You have the option to explore nearby dunes. Alternatively, you can relax at your camp.
Day 4: Sidi Naji to Erg Zahar

Erg Zahar features stunning dunes and offers a serene setting for camping. Day 5: Erg Zahar to Ras Nkhl
