8-day atlas and Sahara tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Welcome to Morocco. Upon arrival in Marrakech, you’ll transfer to your accommodation. You’ll have some time to rest and recover from your journey. If you have the energy, spend the afternoon exploring the vibrant medina. Stroll through Jemaa el-Fnaa, the bustling central square, and explore the maze of souks filled with traditional crafts and spices. In the evening. You can relax and enjoy the amenities until our pre-departure meeting at 18:00 hrs. This is your chance to meet your fellow travelers and prepare for the exciting journey ahead.
Day 2: Marrakech to Agersioual and Hike to Imnan Valley
On the second day, you’ll embark on a drive from Marrakech to Agersioual. Agersioual is a village nestled in the High Atlas Mountains. From Agersioual, begin your hike into the Imnan Valley. You’ll be surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. After a day of trekking, you’ll arrive in Tinghrin village. You’ll spend the night in a cozy local guesthouse(homestay). This offers an authentic glimpse into rural Berber life.
Day 3: Hike Over Tizi n Tamatert and Descend to Armed
Your third day will involve a challenging yet rewarding hike over the Tizi n Tamatert pass. This high mountain pass offers panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. After crossing the pass, you’ll descend into the village of Armed, located in the Imlil area. In the evening, you’ll stay in a guesthouse in Armed. You can enjoy the serene atmosphere there. You will also experience the hospitality of the local Berber community.
Day 4: Drive to Ait Benhaddou and Ouarzazate
On day four, you’ll drive from Imlil to Ait Benhaddou. Ait Benhaddou is a renowned ksar (fortified village). It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the ancient mud-brick structures and the rich history of this remarkable site. After your visit, continue your drive to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Spend the night in Ouarzazate. You have the opportunity to visit the Atlas Film Studios as an optional if time permits.
Day 5: Ouarzazate to Merzouga
The following day, you’ll journey from Ouarzazate to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Upon arrival, prepare for a memorable camel trek into the desert. As you ride across the golden dunes, you’ll experience the breathtaking beauty of the Sahara at sunset. After your camel ride, settle into a Berber camp for the night. You’ll enjoy traditional desert cuisine and some berber entertainment. Marvel at the starlit sky.
Day 6: Drive to Dades Valley
On your seventh day, you’ll drive from Merzouga to the Dades Valley. The journey will take you through dramatic landscapes, including impressive gorges and unique rock formations. Arrive in the Dades Valley and take some time to explore this scenic area, known for its stunning natural beauty. Spend the night in the hotel in the Dades Valley, enjoying the tranquil surroundings.
Day 7: Return to Marrakech
On your final day, you’ll make the long drive back to Marrakech. This journey will take you through varied landscapes, offering a final opportunity to appreciate Morocco’s diverse beauty. Once you arrive in Marrakech, you have some time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing. In the evening, why not enjoy your last group dinner at a local restaurant in Jamaa El Fna.
